We would like to welcome and congratulate the 26 cohort 3 REACH scholars! With nine fellows and 17 trainees, this is REACH’s largest REACH scholar cohort so far. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration funded a two-year grant to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry in collaboration with Yale University, the American College of Academic Addiction Medicine and a coalition of 37 multidisciplinary healthcare learning institutions to train our future practitioners to prevent and treat SUD.
The REACH Team welcomes the REACH scholars! REACH trains, supports and inspires growth as leaders in the field of Addiction and to build the capacity of the workforce to better care for racial and ethnic underrepresented minority patients with substance use disorders. The scholars are a diverse and intellectually curious group that we anticipate will challenge, support and affirm each other as you journey through this next year together.
As a reminder for the scholars, please mark your calendars for our Welcome Workshop on July 23rd and 24th, which you are all required to attend. We will send a calendar invite with an agenda soon. During this workshop, you will be virtually meeting many key persons from the REACH Team, including your mentors, with whom you will be matched during one of those two days. We are very fortunate to be guided by our REACH mentors, many of whom are returning from previous years, and are happy to welcome our new mentors as well. They are knowledgeable, passionate and successful and will undoubtedly transmit these attributes to our cohort 3.
Thanks and welcome to REACH!
